Our Story
In 1891, George Moore Sr. came to Ohio City, OH from Clermont County, walking the entire distance on a railroad track. His brother was the Ohio City mayor, and George initially joined him in the hardware business until the building was destroyed by a fire. Fortunately, George had also founded an insurance business that was then his full time venture until the time of his death, passing the business on to George Moore Jr.
George Jr. and his wife, Emily, continued the insurance business and in 1960 their son, Norman George Moore joined them. In 1963, history repeated itself when George Jr. died of a heart attack, leaving the business to Norman.

Norman continued the business with home, auto, life, farm, business, and health insurance while adding an income tax service. He was later joined by his wife, Jo Ann and then his daughter, Ann.

Ann (Moore) King worked as an underwriter for Celina Insurance Group before going to work with her parents at Moore Insurance. She got to spend 6 years working with her mom before Jo Ann passed away and then another decade+ more with her dad. In a 2000 article recognizing the agency's 100 years in business, Ann was quoted as saying, "Being here with mom and dad was the most valuable gift anyone could have ever given me. It's one way I could give back to a family who has given me such a precious heritage. Who knows? Maybe some day I'll be passing down this same heritage to my children."

The agency expanded its operation in 2005, adding a second office location in Celina, OH. In 2014, the fifth generation of the Moore family, Rachel (King) Mosier, began working for the family agency and in 2024, Sara (King) Frank joined the agency to work with her sister and mother.
Norman Moore stated, "Each generation brings more knowledge to the business." Today, the fourth and fifth generations of Moore Insurance take care of their customers with that knowledge base that has grown since 1891.
