Frequently Asked Questions

Have a question? Here are some of the questions we get most often. Don't hesitate to give us a call with any questions as well!

Insurance

Q: How do I pay my premium?

A: There are several ways you can pay your insurance premium. Each of the companies with whom we partner offer the ability to pay by phone or online. To access your policy online, you can utilize the partner links here:

Progressive                                Auto-Owners                                Western Reserve Group

You can also drop off check or cash to one of our agency locations, or call us with your credit card information and we will upload your payment.

Q: Why did my premium increase?

A: There are many reasons your premium can increase, including a change in credit score, a change in accident or traffic violation history, changes to what or who is covered in your policy, age, and loss of discounts. Insurance companies also make annual rate changes in accordance with inflation and claims history for their clients as a whole. Don't hesitate to call us for questions on your specific policy.

Q: What information do you need to give me a free quote?

A: We'll need your basic information such as name, date of birth, address, phone number, social security number, and driver's license number. We'll need the same information for other members of your household as well.

For auto policies, we'll need all vehicles to be insured along with their VIN and loan information.

For home policies, will need the address to be insured and any updates you’ve made to the dwelling (ie year of roof). We will also need information on any scheduled personal property you'd like covered (jewelry, other valuable items).

It's very helpful if we can see your current insurance policy so we can quote comparable coverage.

Taxes

Q: How much will you charge to do my taxes?

A: Our rates depend on the complexity of your tax return. A single person with one W-2 is much less labor than a business owner or someone with multiple streams of income, investments, etc. If you bring in your documents we can review and let you know the cost you can expect.

Q: What forms of payment do you accept?

A: We accept cash or check.

Q: When should I come in? Do I need an appointment?

A: We don't require appointments, but if you want to ensure we can see you at your preferred time please call to schedule. We also offer appointments outside our normal hours during tax season.

Q: What do I need to bring with me?

A: We'll need your basic information such as name, date of birth, address, phone number, social security number, and driver's license number. We'll need the same information for your spouse as well as name, DOB, and social security number for all dependents. It's always helpful for us to see your taxes from the prior year if this is our first year preparing your taxes so we can make sure everything is included and carried over.

Bring statements of any income for yourself and any other adults in your home, including W-2s, 1099s, K-1s, unemployment, social security statements, gambling or lottery winnings, interest, dividends, retirement payments, cryptocurrency sales, etc. If you're self-employed, we'll need a record of your expenses for the year. If you'd like to receive your refund electronically, we'll need your bank account and routing numbers. â€‹

The majority of our tax clients do not have eligible deductions higher than the IRS standard deduction. That being said, it doesn't hurt to bring in the following documents for us to verify. They may still impact your taxable income at the state level or qualify you for specific credits. These documents include: Form 1098 (mortgage interest), records of charitable donations, medical expenses, childcare expenses, education expenses (1098-T and 1098-E), 1095-A (health insurance through the Marketplace), electric vehicle information, receipts for energy-saving home improvements (solar panels, solar water heater, etc.).

Q: When will I get my refund?

A: The IRS states up to 21 days for an e-filed return and 4 or more weeks for an amended return or returns sent by mail. You can check the status of your refund online.
